What are the early symptoms of acute leukemia?
Disease description:
Recently, I've been coughing a lot and always suspecting that I have leukemia. Doctor, what are the early symptoms of acute leukemia?
The early symptoms of acute leukemia are diverse, and mainly include:
1. Symptoms related to anemia: such as dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, and shortness of breath. These symptoms occur due to leukemia cells suppressing normal hematopoietic function, leading to a decrease in red blood cells.
2. Hemorrhagic symptoms: common manifestations include skin bruising, nosebleeds, and gum bleeding. In severe cases, symptoms such as hematuria (blood in urine), hematemesis (vomiting blood), and melena (black stools) may occur, caused by a decrease in platelets.
3. Fever and infections: due to abnormalities in white blood cells, patients are prone to develop infection-related symptoms such as fever, cough, sputum production, abdominal pain, diarrhea, frequent urination, and urgency.
4. Bone and joint pain: leukemia cells proliferate rapidly in the bone marrow and may cause pain in bones and joints, especially in the knees, shoulders, and lower back.
5. Enlarged lymph nodes: in certain types of acute leukemia, such as acute lymphoblastic leukemia, lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) may occur.
If similar symptoms appear, timely medical consultation and professional examinations are recommended.
