What causes itching of the vulva?
Disease description:
Recently, I have been experiencing persistent itching in the vulva. May I ask what are the possible causes of vulvar itching?

Itching of the vulva may be caused by various factors, mainly including:
1. Poor local hygiene: Inadequate cleaning of the vulvar area may lead to skin irritation from sweat, urine, secretions, and other substances, resulting in itching.
2. Inflammatory stimulation: Inflammatory conditions such as vaginitis and vulvitis can increase secretions, irritating the vulvar skin and causing itching.
3. Vulvar skin diseases: Conditions such as vulvar eczema, neurodermatitis, and lichen sclerosus can directly cause itching in the vulvar area and may be accompanied by skin lesions.
4. Parasitic infections: Such as pubic lice infestation, in which the lice attach to the pubic hair and their secretions and excretions irritate the local skin, causing itching.
5. Other factors: Systemic diseases such as diabetes mellitus may also cause vulvar itching.
If symptoms of vulvar itching persist or worsen, prompt medical attention is recommended.
