Main symptoms of ureteral stones
Disease description:
Recently, I've been having some difficulty urinating and experiencing pain during urination. Could this mean there is a stone in my ureter, doctor? What are the main symptoms of ureteral stones?

Ureteral stones are solid structures formed by the abnormal aggregation of crystalline substances in the urine. The main symptoms of ureteral stones include:
1. **Severe back pain**: When a stone moves within the ureter, it can cause intense pain along the ureteral pathway, typically starting in the flank or back and often radiating downward to the groin.
2. **Hematuria**: Due to the stone rubbing against the ureteral wall, blood may appear in the urine, causing it to appear pink, red, or brown. This condition is known as hematuria.
3. **Frequent and urgent urination**: The stone may irritate the urinary tract, creating a sensation of needing to urinate frequently or experiencing a sudden, strong urge to urinate.
4. **Painful urination**: A burning sensation or sharp pain may be felt during urination.
5. **Nausea and vomiting**: Along with severe pain, patients may also experience nausea and vomiting.
6. **Cloudy urine**: The presence of stones may cause the urine to become cloudy.
7. **Fever and chills**: If an infection is present, fever and chills may occur.
If these symptoms appear, especially severe back pain or hematuria, medical attention should be sought promptly.
