Cataract Symptoms
Disease description:
I have recently been experiencing blurred vision and strabismus, and I'm worried that I might have cataracts. I would like to know, what are the symptoms of cataracts?
Cataracts are a common eye condition in which the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, leading to a decline in vision. The main symptoms include:
1. **Progressive blurring of vision**: The most common symptom is gradually worsening blurred vision, which may feel as though you are looking through a foggy window.
2. **Reduced color perception**: Patients may find that colors appear less vivid, especially shades of blue and purple.
3. **Decreased contrast sensitivity**: Objects may appear less distinct, particularly in low-light conditions.
4. **Glare sensitivity**: Patients may experience glare or halos around lights, especially in bright sunlight or while driving at night, which can make driving more difficult.
5. **Double vision (diplopia)**: In some cases, a single object may appear as two images.
6. **Difficulty reading or performing near tasks**: Cataracts can sometimes cause changes in refractive error, leading individuals who previously did not need glasses to require them for reading.
7. **Narrowed field of vision**: As the condition progresses, peripheral vision may gradually deteriorate, resulting in a narrowed visual field.
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should seek medical attention promptly for evaluation.
