What causes testicular pain?
Disease description:
My testicles have been hurting a lot these past few days; the pain is making me feel terrible. I'd like to ask the doctor, what causes testicular pain?

"Balls ache" usually refers to scrotal pain, which may be caused by various factors. Common causes include:
1. Testicular torsion: This is an emergency condition where the testicular blood vessels twist, blocking blood flow and causing severe pain. Immediate medical attention is required.
2. Epididymitis: Inflammation and swelling of the epididymis caused by infections (such as bacterial infections), often accompanied by fever and localized tenderness.
3. Varicocele: Enlargement of the veins within the spermatic cord, which may cause scrotal discomfort or a dull ache, especially after prolonged standing.
4. Trauma: Injury sustained during sports activities or external impact may lead to scrotal pain.
5. Orchitis: Similar to epididymitis, inflammation of the testicle can also cause pain, possibly accompanied by redness and swelling.
6. Stones: Stones in the vas deferens or prostate may cause referred pain.
Note that if "balls ache" occurs, especially if the pain persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, prompt medical consultation is advised.
