This summer weather is really too hot. I feel dizzy and my vision becomes blurry after being exposed to the sun for a long time. I would like to ask the doctor, what are the symptoms of heatstroke?

Dr. Huang Shichang
Heatstroke symptoms can be categorized into three levels of severity: precursor heatstroke, mild heatstroke, and severe heatstroke. 1. Precursor heatstroke: Symptoms include headache, dizziness, thirst, excessive sweating, weakness in the limbs, difficulty concentrating, and normal or slightly elevated body temperature. Promptly moving to a cool, well-ventilated area and replenishing fluids can lead to recovery within a short period. 2. Mild heatstroke: In addition to the symptoms of precursor heatstroke, body temperature rises above 38°C, accompanied by flushed face, hot skin, increased pulse rate, and decreased blood pressure. Moving to a cool area and receiving appropriate treatment typically results in recovery within several hours. 3. Severe heatstroke: This includes heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke (also known as hyperpyretic heatstroke). Symptoms may involve high fever, absence of sweating, altered mental status, seizures, coma, and can even be life-threatening. Immediate medical attention is required.
