Can I eat shepherd's purse if I have high uric acid levels?
Disease description:
I personally really enjoy eating shepherd's purse, and I find it delicious. However, I have high uric acid levels and would like to know if it's suitable for me to consume shepherd's purse.

Patients with high uric acid levels can consume shepherd's purse. Shepherd's purse is a vegetable rich in vitamin B, vitamin C, minerals, and crude fiber, with very low purine content. The purine content in every 100 grams of shepherd's purse is approximately 4–7 mg, far below the threshold for high-purine foods. Therefore, moderate consumption of shepherd's purse will not elevate uric acid levels or trigger uric acid-related diseases such as gout. On the contrary, shepherd's purse has effects of clearing heat, promoting diuresis, and facilitating urine excretion, which helps eliminate uric acid from the body. Additionally, shepherd's purse can clear heat and detoxify, and moisten the intestines to relieve constipation; it can be used to treat symptoms such as swollen and painful eyes or oral ulcers caused by excessive internal heat, as well as to alleviate constipation. However, it should be noted that although shepherd's purse benefits patients with high uric acid levels, excessive consumption may affect skin color, causing skin yellowing. Therefore, it should be consumed in moderation.
