Disease description:

I used to really enjoy eating pork tripe, but after my uric acid levels became elevated, I stopped eating it. I was wondering if it's okay to eat a small amount of pork tripe when uric acid is high?

Patients with high uric acid levels are not advised to consume pork tripe for the following reasons: 1. High purine content: As an animal offal, pork tripe contains relatively high levels of purines. Every 100 grams of pork tripe contains approximately 132.4 milligrams of purines, classifying it as a moderate-purine food. Consuming high-purine foods can increase uric acid production in the body, potentially worsening symptoms of elevated uric acid and even triggering gout. 2. Impact on uric acid metabolism: Patients with high uric acid levels often have disordered purine metabolism. The purine substances in pork tripe can further disrupt the metabolic process of uric acid, making it harder to control uric acid levels. To maintain stable uric acid levels, patients with elevated uric acid should avoid consuming high-purine foods such as pork tripe. Additionally, they should consume more low-purine foods, such as fresh vegetables and fruits, and follow their doctor's recommendations for dietary adjustments and treatment.
