Can people with high uric acid levels eat red adzuki beans?
Disease description:
My uric acid levels have always been relatively high, and there are many foods I usually avoid. Recently, my family has been preparing red adzuki beans again. I would like to ask, is it okay for someone with high uric acid to eat red adzuki beans?

In general, patients with high uric acid levels should avoid or cautiously consume red adzuki beans. Adzuki beans belong to the category of moderate-purine foods. For patients with mildly elevated uric acid levels and no obvious discomfort symptoms, limited consumption of adzuki beans may be acceptable, but excessive intake should be avoided to prevent increased purine intake which may elevate uric acid levels. For patients with significantly high uric acid levels and symptoms of gout attacks, such as joint redness, swelling, heat, and pain, or those with kidney damage, consumption of adzuki beans is not recommended, as it may worsen their condition. Additionally, patients with high uric acid levels should avoid high-purine foods in daily diet, such as animal offal, seafood, and meat broth, and moderately increase consumption of low-purine foods, such as fresh vegetables and fruits. Maintaining adequate water intake also helps promote uric acid excretion. If necessary, patients should also receive medication and regular uric acid level monitoring under a doctor's guidance.
