Under normal circumstances, patients with high uric acid levels that have not yet caused hyperuricemia or gout can consume fresh broad beans in moderation, primarily those prepared with light seasoning. However, frequent consumption or eating large quantities at one time should be avoided. Fresh broad beans are considered moderate-purine foods, containing approximately 25 to 150 milligrams of purins per 100 grams, and moderate intake has minimal impact on uric acid levels. If elevated uric acid has already led to hyperuricemia or gout, it is not recommended to consume broad beans, especially dried broad beans or those processed by frying, roasting, and similar methods, as they have higher purine content and may exacerbate the condition. Dried broad beans contain up to 307 milligrams of purines per 100 grams, placing them in the high-purine food category.
