What can be done about rib cage deformity after childbirth?
After giving birth, I noticed that my ribs had become slightly deformed. I'm concerned and would like to learn more about what to do about rib cage deformation following childbirth.
After childbirth, rib deformity is mainly likely caused by fibrocartilage deformation due to fetal pressure and deficiency of vitamin D. For this condition, the following measures can be taken:
1. Strengthen exercise: Perform exercises targeting the chest and abdominal muscles, such as push-ups, dumbbell presses, sit-ups, and planks, to enhance muscle strength and help the ribs gradually return to their normal position.
2. Supplement vitamin D: Consult a doctor about suitable vitamin D supplements and take them as directed. Additionally, increase time spent outdoors to promote skin synthesis of vitamin D, which benefits bone health.
3. Maintain proper posture: Avoid maintaining poor posture for prolonged periods, especially a forward-leaning posture, to reduce outward pressure on the ribs.
4. Use supportive belts: When necessary, use supportive belts to provide additional support and stability, relieving pressure on the ribs.
If rib deformity is severe or persists, seek timely medical attention. Based on the doctor's recommendations, orthoses or surgical correction may be considered.
