Can I eat green beans if I have high uric acid?
Disease description:
I really enjoy eating green beans; I think they taste great. However, I recently found out that my uric acid levels are high, and I'm wondering if it's safe for me to eat green beans.
Patients with high uric acid levels can consume string beans. String beans have a relatively low purine content; therefore, moderate consumption of string beans will not cause fluctuations in blood uric acid levels nor exacerbate gout symptoms. Additionally, string beans are rich in various nutrients, such as vitamin C, potassium, folate, iron, and protein, which help enhance immunity, maintain heart health, promote blood circulation, and improve immune system function. These nutrients are also beneficial for patients with elevated uric acid levels. Although string beans have low purine content, patients should still control their intake and avoid excessive consumption. At the same time, individuals with high uric acid should maintain a balanced diet, consume more low-purine and high-fiber foods, and avoid excessive intake of high-purine, high-fat, and high-sugar foods to manage uric acid levels and maintain overall health.
