Patients with high uric acid levels are not advised to consume oysters. Oysters are seafood with high purine content; the purine level in every 100 grams of oysters is relatively high. Consumption may lead to increased blood uric acid levels in the body, triggering gout attacks or worsening the condition. Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism in the body. Excessively high uric acid levels can easily cause gout episodes, affect daily activities, and potentially cause long-term damage to organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys. Therefore, patients with high uric acid should try to avoid high-purine foods in their diet, such as oysters, shellfish, sardines, and other seafood, as well as organ meats and concentrated meat broths. At the same time, it is recommended to choose low-purine foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, rice, noodles, and drink plenty of water to promote uric acid excretion.
