Can saffron be consumed every day?
Disease description:
A while ago, a friend gave me a lot of saffron and asked me to drink it. I have been consuming it daily recently, but I read in the newspaper that it is a cooling beverage. Therefore, I would like to ask, is it okay to drink saffron every day?

Saffron has functions including promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, cooling blood to relieve toxicity, alleviating depression to calm the mind, and enhancing immunity. However, it is not recommended for daily consumption. Saffron is warm in nature and pungent in taste, acting on the heart and liver meridians. It has strong effects in promoting blood circulation, regulating menstruation, dispersing stagnation, and relieving emotional blockages. Daily consumption may easily increase the risk of bleeding, especially for specific populations such as women with bleeding tendencies, excessive menstrual bleeding, and pregnant women, for whom it is contraindicated. Additionally, long-term excessive use of saffron may stimulate the nervous system, leading to endocrine disorders and even symptoms such as internal heat, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Therefore, it is recommended to consume saffron in appropriate amounts under a doctor's guidance, adjusting the frequency and dosage according to individual constitution and needs. Generally, it's best to drink it every other day, with each serving not too large—around 5–8 threads, which can be steeped 3–4 times. Also, one should avoid drinking saffron tea during contraindicated periods such as pregnancy, menstruation, on an empty stomach, or immediately after meals.
