Septicemia, also known as sepsis, is a severe systemic infection reaction that occurs when bacteria or their toxins enter the circulatory system and trigger a strong inflammatory response. Its symptoms may include but are not limited to:
1. Systemic symptoms: Patients with severe septicemia usually exhibit systemic symptoms, mainly表现为 rapid heartbeat, rapid breathing, headache, joint pain, muscle pain, high fever, chills, weakness, and fatigue.
2. Gastrointestinal symptoms: Patients with mild septicemia may experience gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, and vomiting.
3. Joint damage: It commonly causes pain, redness, swelling, and limited mobility in the knee joints. A small number of patients may also develop fluid accumulation within the joint cavity.
4. Skin lesions: Septicemia may cause skin damage, most commonly petechiae, manifested as bruises or burn-like rashes.
5. Hepatosplenomegaly: Patients with septicemia may develop mild enlargement of the liver and spleen, with tenderness upon palpation. Some patients may also develop jaundice.
