Can people with gout eat duck meat?
Disease description:
I usually buy duck meat to make soup, but my gout has flared up these days. I would like to know, can I eat duck meat when having gout?

Gout patients can eat duck meat, but should pay attention to the following points:
1. Purine content: Duck meat is considered a moderate-purine food. Moderate consumption generally does not cause significant problems for gout patients; however, excessive intake may increase uric acid levels and trigger or worsen gout symptoms.
2. Stage of the disease: During an acute gout attack, patients should avoid eating duck meat as much as possible to reduce uric acid production and prevent worsening of joint inflammation. During periods of stable disease, duck meat can be consumed in moderation, but intake should be controlled.
3. Cooking methods: It is recommended to choose low-fat, low-salt cooking methods such as boiling or steaming, and avoid high-fat, high-salt methods such as frying or barbecuing, to reduce fat and salt intake, which is more beneficial for gout patients.
