What should not be eaten during menstruation
I'm actually quite cautious during my menstrual period and avoid eating many things, but I still want to ask: what should not be eaten during menstruation?
During the menstrual period, a woman's body is more sensitive, and certain foods may worsen discomfort or affect physical recovery. The following are foods that should be avoided or consumed in moderation during menstruation:
1. Spicy foods: Such as chili peppers, coffee, strong tea, and alcohol, which may cause abdominal discomfort or exacerbate dysmenorrhea.
2. Cold beverages and cooling foods: Ice cream, cold drinks, and raw cold fruits may intensify uterine contractions, leading to increased menstrual pain or prolonged periods.
3. High-sodium foods: Excessive salt intake may cause fluid retention, worsening menstrual edema and breast tenderness.
4. Greasy foods: Fatty and greasy foods may cause indigestion and increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract.
5. Excessive caffeine: In addition to its stimulating effects, excessive caffeine intake may increase anxiety and insomnia.
Diet during menstruation should primarily consist of light, easily digestible, fiber-rich foods such as fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean meats, and soy products. Maintaining adequate hydration can help alleviate menstrual discomfort.
