Disease description:

At that time, when I went for my first blood pressure check, the results were considered relatively normal. May I ask what the current blood pressure standards are?

Dr. Tian Hongbo

The standard for normal blood pressure in adults is a systolic pressure between 90-139 mmHg and a diastolic pressure between 60-89 mmHg. Blood pressure within the range of 120-139 mmHg systolic and 80-89 mmHg diastolic, although not yet meeting the criteria for hypertension diagnosis, is already at a relatively high level and should be noted.

When systolic pressure reaches 140-159 mmHg or diastolic pressure is between 90-99 mmHg, this is defined as mild hypertension (Stage 1). Stage 2 hypertension is defined as systolic pressure ≥160 mmHg and/or diastolic pressure ≥100 mmHg. Stage 3 hypertension refers to blood pressure exceeding 180/110 mmHg, or diastolic pressure above 110 mmHg.

A diagnosis of hypertension requires multiple consecutive measurements consistently outside the normal range, along with clinical evaluation of the patient's specific condition. It is recommended to regularly monitor your own blood pressure levels to promptly detect abnormalities and take appropriate measures for control. If you have concerns or experience discomfort, seek medical attention promptly.
