What causes heart pain?
Recently, I have been experiencing pain in the area of my heart, especially after being upset by my husband. I would like to ask, what are the possible causes of heart pain?
Cardiac pain, commonly referred to as chest pain, can be caused by various factors. The primary considerations involve conditions affecting the heart itself, such as angina pectoris, which is triggered by insufficient blood supply through the coronary arteries and results in chest discomfort; and myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, which directly results from severe impairment of heart function and is often accompanied by intense chest pain.
In addition, the digestive system—particularly gastric disorders—can cause acid reflux, which may irritate the esophagus or nearby nerves and mimic the sensation of heart pain. Chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol, although not directly causing cardiac pain, significantly increase the risk of heart disease and thereby indirectly contribute to the occurrence of chest pain.
Not all chest pain directly indicates heart-related problems. For example, prolonged work or staying up late may lead to myocardial ischemia and cause cardiac pain. Emotional factors such as anger and anxiety can also trigger myocardial ischemia, resulting in heart discomfort. Poor dietary habits, including irregular meal times, frequent consumption of takeout food, or eating spicy and irritating foods, may increase the workload on the heart and lead to cardiac pain.
If symptoms persist or worsen, timely medical attention is recommended.
