How to quickly reduce swelling and pain in the gums
The gum swelling and pain have persisted for three to four days; what can be done to reduce the swelling quickly?

Swollen and painful gums are usually caused by periodontitis, gingivitis, or abscesses around the teeth. To quickly relieve gum swelling and pain, you can try the following methods:
1. Rinse with salt water: Use an antibacterial mouthwash or saline solution to rinse your mouth 2-3 times daily, which can help reduce gum inflammation and disinfect.
2. Apply a cold compress: Wrap an ice pack or ice cubes in a towel and gently apply it to the swollen area on the outside of your cheek for 15-20 minutes each time, 2-3 times daily. This helps constrict blood vessels and can reduce pain and swelling.
3. Avoid irritating foods: Avoid eating overly hard, hot, or spicy foods, as these can worsen gum inflammation.
4. Anti-inflammatory medications: Under a doctor's guidance, over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen or indomethacin may be used to alleviate pain and reduce swelling.
5. Oral hygiene: Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush at least twice daily. Additionally, use dental floss or interdental brushes to clean between teeth and reduce bacterial growth.
