What causes neck pain?
I have been looking at the computer for a long time without moving, and now my neck is painful. Why is this happening?
Cervical pain is mainly related to the following factors:
1. Poor posture: Maintaining a single posture for a prolonged period, especially activities such as looking down at a mobile phone or working on a computer, can cause neck muscle fatigue and lead to cervical pain.
2. Degenerative changes: With aging, the cervical intervertebral discs and vertebrae may experience wear and tear, leading to bone spur formation, narrowing of the intervertebral space, nerve root or spinal cord compression, and resulting in pain.
3. Neck injuries: Accidents such as car crashes or falls can cause neck injuries and lead to structural damage of the cervical spine, resulting in pain.
4. Muscle strain: Intense physical activity or sudden neck movements may cause muscle strain or sprain, resulting in pain.
5. Environmental factors: Exposure to cold air from air conditioning directly blowing on the neck during summer can cause neck chilling, muscle spasms, and subsequent cervical pain.
6. Long-term smoking: Substances such as nicotine in cigarettes can cause capillary spasms and reduce blood supply to the cervical spine, and long-term smoking may induce cervical pain.
