Disease description:

I have been experiencing persistent pain at the bottom of my right heel recently. The pain is especially noticeable when I first get out of bed in the morning. It improves slightly after walking for a while, but worsens again after prolonged standing or excessive walking. Why am I experiencing pain at the bottom of my right heel?

Heel pain on the bottom of the right foot can be caused by several factors, the most common of which include:

1. Prolonged weight-bearing activities: Extended periods of standing, walking, or engaging in weight-bearing activities may lead to heel impact injuries and cause fat pad inflammation, presenting symptoms such as pain, stiffness, and limited mobility.

2. Plantar fasciitis: This is one of the most common causes of heel pain. The plantar fascia is a thick fibrous band connecting the heel bone to the toes; overuse or prolonged standing may cause inflammation.

3. Achilles tendinitis: The Achilles tendon connects the heel bone to the calf muscles; excessive exercise or inappropriate footwear may cause injury or inflammation of the Achilles tendon.

4. Bone spurs: Bone overgrowth or spurs may develop on the heel bone of the right foot due to aging or degeneration, which can cause pain when pressure is applied.

5. Exposure to cold: Failure to keep the right heel area warm and subsequent exposure to cold air may also cause pain.

6. Trauma: Injury to the right heel area, such as fractures or soft tissue damage, may also cause symptoms such as pain and swelling.

7. Heel fat pad Atrophy: With age, the fat pad under the heel may thin, reducing cushioning and causing pain.
