Pumpkin has a low purine content. The purine content in every 100 grams of pumpkin ranges approximately between 2 milligrams and 2.8 milligrams, which is below the threshold for high-purine foods. Therefore, pumpkin is considered a low-purine food.

Purine is a compound naturally present in many foods. When the body metabolizes purines, uric acid is produced. Hyperuricemia (high uric acid levels) is a risk factor for gout and uric acid kidney stones. Individuals with gout or hyperuricemia should pay particular attention to the purine content of their food.

For patients with high uric acid levels or gout, moderate consumption of pumpkin is safe because its purine content is low and will not affect uric acid levels. Moreover, pumpkin is rich in nutrients such as beta-carotene, vitamin C, potassium, and dietary fiber, and moderate consumption is beneficial to health.

Both healthy individuals and those with high uric acid levels or gout can moderately consume pumpkin as part of their regular diet.
