Disease description:

My family bought a lot of persimmon cakes. They taste quite sweet, so they should have a high sugar content. I'm wondering, can eating persimmon cakes cause weight gain?

Persimmon cake is a sweet food, mainly composed of sugar, dietary fiber, and some trace elements. It has an approximate calorie content of 250 kcal per 100 grams, with sugar content possibly reaching up to around 50%. Due to its high sugar and calorie content, excessive consumption may lead to weight gain.

If large amounts of persimmon cake are consumed daily without corresponding physical activity or reduction in intake of other foods, it may result in excessive energy intake, potentially causing weight gain. Although persimmon cake is nutritionally rich, containing various vitamins, minerals, and fiber, it is recommended to consume no more than two pieces at a time, preferably between meals, to avoid weight issues caused by excessive sugar and calorie intake.

Patients with diabetes should avoid eating persimmon cake due to its high sugar content. Those aiming to control their weight are advised to consume persimmon cake only occasionally as a snack, while maintaining a balanced overall diet and avoiding excessive intake of high-calorie foods.
