Intestinal colic is characterized by paroxysmal abdominal pain caused by intense contraction of the intestinal smooth muscle. Increased pain in the left abdomen may indicate intestinal colic, but could also be a symptom of other diseases such as intestinal obstruction, ureteral calculi, or colitis.

It is recommended to seek timely medical attention for a detailed physical examination and relevant auxiliary tests, such as abdominal ultrasound, complete blood count, and urinalysis, to determine the cause. If diagnosed with intestinal colic, pain can be relieved through rest, abdominal heat application, and massage. However, if the pain persists or is accompanied by other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, or fever, prompt medical evaluation is necessary to identify the underlying cause and initiate targeted treatment.
