What causes pain in both shoulders?
I have been using the computer for extended periods recently, and both of my shoulders hurt when pressed. Why is this happening? What causes pain in both shoulders?
Shoulder pain is a common symptom that can be caused by various factors.
1. Muscle or joint issues: These include muscle strain from prolonged repetitive work or maintaining the same posture for extended periods, such as continuous computer use or long periods of driving, which can lead to muscle tension and inflammation. Periarthritis of the shoulder can cause restricted joint movement and pain; bursitis can also cause pain.
2. Abnormal bone structure: Conditions such as subacromial impingement syndrome are typically related to shoulder movements during daily activities; rotator cuff injuries, including tendonitis and tears, may result from age-related degeneration or trauma.
3. Nerve compression: Cervical spondylosis is a common neurogenic factor causing shoulder pain. Herniated cervical discs or bone spurs compressing nerve roots can radiate pain to the shoulder area.
4. Metabolic diseases: For example, peripheral neuropathy caused by diabetes may present with shoulder pain as one of its symptoms.
If the pain persists or affects your daily life, it is recommended to seek medical examination at a hospital immediately.
