Disease description:

I really enjoy eating onions because they taste sweet and delicious, and they are not high in calories either. However, I'm concerned about potential incompatibility with other foods. I would like to know what foods should not be consumed together with onions?

Onions should not be consumed with the following foods:

1. Honey: Onions are considered a warming food, while honey tends to be cooling in nature. Their opposing properties may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea when consumed together. Additionally, the active substances in onions may react with components in honey, affecting nutrient absorption or producing harmful substances.

2. Calcium-rich foods: Onions contain oxalic acid, which can combine with calcium in foods such as seaweed and shrimp to form calcium oxalate. This compound is not easily absorbed by the human body, and long-term excessive intake may increase the risk of developing kidney stones.

3. Spicy and irritating foods: Both onions and foods such as chili peppers, ginger, and garlic are considered spicy and irritating. Excessive consumption may damage the gastric mucosa, causing discomfort such as stomach pain and acid reflux. Individuals with weaker gastrointestinal function should especially avoid consuming these together.

Individuals with sensitive digestive systems or specific health conditions should consult a doctor or nutritionist for appropriate dietary planning.
