Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute autoimmune peripheral neuropathy primarily characterized by symmetrical, flaccid limb paralysis, which may be accompanied by sensory abnormalities and autonomic dysfunction. The treatment of Guillain-Barré syndrome aims to alleviate symptoms, shorten the disease course, and prevent complications.

1. Drug therapy: Intravenous immunoglobulin is suitable for patients in the acute phase who have no history of immunoglobulin allergy. It can neutralize and remove pathogenic autoantibodies in the body and inhibit immune responses. Metabolic agents such as coenzyme A, ATP, cytochrome C, and vitamin B12 can be used as adjunctive therapies.

2. Plasma exchange: This treatment removes pathogenic antibodies from the blood and can improve patient prognosis.

3. Infection prevention: Because GBS patients are prone to complications such as pulmonary and urinary tract infections, enhanced nursing care and the use of antibiotics for infection prevention or treatment are necessary.

4. Supportive therapy: Supportive treatments such as respiratory support, nutritional support, physical therapy, and pain management are very important for maintaining stable vital signs and promoting recovery in patients.
