What to do during the hypertrophic phase after double eyelid surgery
After I had double eyelid surgery, I entered the hyperplasia phase, and my eyelids became locally swollen with hard nodules and an uneven surface. I would like to know what I should do?
During the hypertrophic phase after double eyelid surgery, you can manage symptoms by being patient, applying cold and warm compresses, avoiding irritation, undergoing medication therapy, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
1. Be patient: Recovery during the hypertrophic phase is a gradual process that requires time. Usually, these symptoms will subside and disappear gradually within weeks to months.
2. Cold and warm compresses: In the early postoperative period, you can gently apply an ice pack to the eyes to help reduce swelling. After one week, switch to warm compresses to promote blood circulation and aid in reducing swelling.
3. Avoid irritation: After surgery, avoid rubbing the eyes vigorously, wearing makeup, and excessive exposure to ultraviolet light, as these may interfere with healing.
4. Medication therapy: If hypertrophy is significant, medication may be used under a doctor's guidance. Commonly used medications include asiaticoside cream and mucopolysaccharide polysulfate cream.
5. Healthy lifestyle: Maintain good sleep habits, follow a balanced diet, and avoid smoking and alcohol consumption, all of which can help accelerate the healing process.
If the hypertrophy is very severe and none of the above treatments are effective, surgical intervention may be considered. Surgical treatment includes excision of scar tissue or resuturing the wound to improve the hypertrophic condition. Surgical treatment should be performed at a qualified medical facility to ensure safety and effectiveness.
