What should gout patients eat more of?
Recently, a friend of mine developed gout, and I would like to ask the doctor what foods gout patients should eat more of.

The diet of gout patients should primarily consist of low-purine foods to avoid the intake of high-purine foods, thus reducing uric acid production. It is recommended to consume more of the following food groups:
1. Low-purine foods: Reduce intake of high-purine foods such as organ meats, red meat, seafood (especially shellfish), and meat broths.
2. Fruits and vegetables: Rich in vitamin C and fiber, these can help lower uric acid levels in the body. Cherries, strawberries, apples, bananas, citrus fruits, and leafy green vegetables such as spinach and celery are recommended.
3. Choose low-fat or fat-free dairy products: Such as low-fat milk and yogurt, which can help reduce uric acid levels.
4. Moderate intake of whole grains and legumes: Whole grains and legumes are sources of high-quality protein, but should be consumed in moderation due to the relatively high purine content in some legumes.
5. Nuts and seeds: Such as almonds and walnuts, which are rich in healthy fats and protein. However, moderation is important due to their high caloric content.
6. Water: Maintaining adequate hydration helps promote uric acid excretion.
