Can people with a cold or fever eat shrimp?
I am 22 years old. I caught a cold recently and developed a fever today. However, I really feel like eating shrimp. I would like to know whether it is okay for someone with a cold and fever to eat shrimp?

In general, people with colds or fever can eat shrimp in moderation, but they should pay attention to their individual constitution and health condition.
Shrimp is a highly nutritious seafood rich in protein, trace elements, vitamins, and carbohydrates. These nutrients help enhance immunity and promote recovery. During a cold or fever, the body requires additional nutrition to fight viruses and bacteria, and moderate consumption of shrimp can provide necessary nutritional support.
However, individuals vary in constitution and medical conditions, and their tolerance to shrimp may differ. For individuals without allergic constitutions, moderate shrimp consumption is generally safe during a cold or fever. However, for those with allergic constitutions or known allergies to shrimp, eating shrimp may trigger allergic reactions such as rashes, difficulty breathing, and may worsen the illness; therefore, shrimp should be strictly avoided.
Additionally, shrimp should be consumed in moderation, as it is relatively difficult to digest. Overconsumption may burden the gastrointestinal system, leading to indigestion, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and other symptoms. When cooking shrimp, it is advisable to choose light and easily digestible methods such as steaming or boiling, and avoid using spicy or irritating seasonings, which may irritate the throat and gastrointestinal tract and worsen symptoms.
