Hello, there are three primary causes of ligament pain: First, intrinsic ligament disorders—such as ligament inflammation, infection, or tumors—are relatively uncommon but can cause ligament pain. Second, trauma-induced injury—including contusions, sprains, or bruises—often leads to significant ligament damage. Such injuries frequently involve intra-ligamentous bleeding, partial or complete ligament tears, or ligamentous laxity; severe cases may require surgical intervention. Third—and most commonly—ligament pain arises from chronic overuse without a clear history of acute trauma or identifiable underlying cause. This type is frequently observed in young, highly active individuals or in older adults who regularly exercise, and results from long-term, repetitive microtrauma leading to ligament soreness. We hope the above information is helpful. Wishing you a happy and healthy life!
