Following a cold, decreased immunity may render the body more susceptible to viral or bacterial infection, leading to symptoms such as throat itching and coughing. Additionally, frequent consumption of spicy or irritating foods, or prolonged exposure to a dry environment, can also cause throat itching and coughing.
