Ovarian cysts may be caused by environmental factors, improper diet, or hormonal imbalances within the body; pelvic infection cannot be ruled out either. If an ovarian cyst is relatively large, it may cause pain in the lower abdomen on one side or a sensation of pelvic heaviness or pressure.
