Undergoing an abortion may lead to intraoperative or postoperative hemorrhage, uterine perforation, and—in severe cases—Asherman’s syndrome (intrauterine adhesions), potentially resulting in infertility. Additionally, failure to implement appropriate anti-inflammatory measures following the procedure may increase the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, or endometriosis.
