Introduction
A lump at the elbow joint, from which bloody fluid can be drawn, may be caused by trauma, furuncles (boils), ganglion cysts, or other reasons. Improvement can be achieved through medication or surgical treatment. A furuncle results from pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus invading a hair follicle and surrounding tissue, leading to localized suppurative infection of the follicle. It commonly occurs on the back, arms, buttocks, and armpits, presenting as red, swollen, warm, and painful small nodules.

Swelling in the elbow joint with bloody fluid discharge may be caused by trauma, furuncles (boils), or ganglion cysts. Symptoms can be improved through medication or surgical treatment. Specific causes are analyzed as follows:

1. Trauma

If the elbow joint suffers external impact, it may lead to subcutaneous tissue damage and result in hematoma formation, from which blood-tinged fluid (typically clotted blood) can be drawn. Patients may use medications such as cefixime capsules or Huoxue Xiaotong tincture to aid recovery.

2. Furuncle (Boil)

A furuncle occurs when pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus invade hair follicles and surrounding tissues, causing localized suppurative infection. It commonly appears on the back, arms, buttocks, or armpits, presenting as red, swollen, painful nodules. When bloody fluid is discharged, patients should clean the area gently with a sterile cotton ball. If no other discomfort is present, keeping the affected area dry and clean is usually sufficient.

3. Ganglion Cyst

A benign cyst may develop in the elbow joint following chronic injury. Some cysts may yield bloody fluid upon aspiration. For recurrent cases, surgical excision may be recommended.

In addition to the above causes, similar symptoms may also be associated with synovitis, degenerative joint disease, or coagulation disorders. It is recommended that patients seek medical evaluation at a hospital for thorough examination, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate treatment.
