Introduction
Patients with trigeminal neuralgia should choose soft, easily chewable foods. For those whose pain is triggered by chewing, a liquid diet is recommended; they must avoid fried, spicy, overly acidic or sweet foods, as well as “heat-inducing” foods. In daily life, patients should consume more foods rich in vitamins and possessing heat-clearing and detoxifying properties—such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and legumes—while limiting intake of fatty meats and favoring lean meats. Overall, the diet should be light and mild.
