Are chronic colitis and chronic gastroenteritis the same condition?
Disease description:
I have mild stomach pain. Some people say it’s colitis, while others say it’s gastroenteritis. Are chronic colitis and chronic gastroenteritis the same condition?
Chronic colitis and chronic gastroenteritis are generally distinct conditions. They differ in the anatomical sites affected: chronic colitis involves inflammation of the colon, whereas gastritis affects the stomach. Consequently, chronic colitis and chronic gastroenteritis are not the same condition. However, both may cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.
