Frequent and increased urination in women is often caused by inflammation. When the bladder becomes inflamed, nerve sensitivity thresholds decrease, placing the central nervous system in a state of heightened excitability—leading to urinary frequency and reduced urine volume per void.
Many people mistakenly believe that nocturia (excessive urination at night) is normal. In fact, this perception is incorrect. Numerous medical conditions can cause urinary frequency, including age-related decline in organ function—particularly reduced kidney function in older adults—which may result in increased nocturia or urinary frequency.
