Sepsis is a clinical condition characterized by a series of infections and toxemia symptoms caused by pathogens entering the bloodstream, multiplying within it, and releasing toxins. Laboratory tests of blood parameters are essential for diagnosing sepsis: - Blood cell analysis: Peripheral white blood cell count is significantly elevated, reaching 10–30 × 10⁹/L, with a marked increase in neutrophils, left shift of the nucleus, and presence of toxic granules in white blood cells. Thrombocytopenia may also occur. - Bacterial culture and antibiotic sensitivity testing: A positive blood culture confirms the diagnosis. Blood cultures should be obtained before initiating antibiotic therapy, preferably during chills or high fever. Multiple blood samples should be drawn according to the patient's condition to increase the positivity rate of blood cultures.
