The main symptoms of chronic dacryoadenitis include painless swelling of the lacrimal gland and mild local swelling. A firm, slightly mobile mass can be palpated at the outer orbital rim; tenderness and swelling may occasionally occur. Ptosis (drooping of the upper eyelid) sometimes develops, and the eyelid margin may appear S-shaped. When the palpebral portion of the lacrimal gland is involved, swollen lacrimal tissue can be seen beneath the conjunctiva of the superior fornix when the upper eyelid is everted. The eyeball is often displaced downward and nasally, leading to restricted movement in upward and outward gaze, which may result in diplopia (double vision). It is essential to maintain good eye health and seek prompt medical evaluation and treatment if any discomfort occurs.
