Cavities, especially chronic fibrotic cavities, tend to recur and are difficult to cure. The severity also depends on whether the infecting strain is drug-sensitive or drug-resistant. If it is a drug-resistant strain, treatment may become challenging, making the condition relatively severe. In most other cases, the condition is relatively mild, and as long as regular anti-tuberculosis treatment is administered, most patients can improve.
