Introduction
First, no shampoo can prevent hair loss or promote hair growth for all types of hair loss. The scalp, like skin, is categorized into dry, oily, and combination types, and the appropriate shampoo should be selected according to the type. A dry scalp often appears grayish-white with small, flaky dry scales and may cause itching. An oily scalp appears yellowish, and the hair tends to lie flat against the scalp.

Hair loss can be divided into physiological and pathological types. So, what kind of shampoo should you use to prevent hair loss?

What shampoo should you use to prevent hair loss?

First, no shampoo can effectively prevent all types of hair loss or promote hair growth. Just like skin, the scalp can be categorized as dry, oily, or combination, and suitable shampoos should be selected accordingly. Dry scalps often appear grayish-white with small, flaky dry scales and may feel itchy. Oily scalps tend to look yellowish, with hair frequently lying flat against the scalp and sometimes accompanied by yellowish oily crusts. Combination scalps are typically reddish, generally appearing dry on the first day after washing but becoming oily by the second day. Individuals with dry scalps are usually advised to choose shampoos containing vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, and amino acids. Those with oily scalps are recommended to use shampoos containing ingredients such as tea tree oil, lemon, aloe vera, and salicylic acid. If oily scalp is accompanied by fungal infection, antifungal shampoos may be used. People with combination scalps can opt for shampoos containing orange, chamomile, or geranium extracts.

Severe hair loss may lead to alopecia areata, so proper hair washing and care routines are essential. When washing your hair, first wet your hair thoroughly, then pour the shampoo into your palms, add water to dilute it, lather it up, and apply the foam starting from the nape and temples upward. Never apply shampoo directly onto the scalp, nor wash your hair while it's dry, as this may overstimulate sebaceous glands and increase sebum production.

Avoid factors that promote excess oil secretion, such as spicy and irritating foods, staying up late, etc. We hope this answer has been helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
