Introduction
Mild heatstroke can be managed by timely rehydration, moving away from the high-temperature environment, and getting adequate rest; headaches may gradually resolve within about 3 days. In more severe cases, such as when significant dehydration or elevated body temperature occurs and affects major tissues, causing intense headaches, it's important to immediately leave the heat-exposed environment, promptly rehydrate, and receive appropriate medication. Improvement may occur within approximately 7 days.

Heatstroke refers to a condition caused by dysfunction of the body's thermoregulatory center, abnormal sweat gland function, and disturbances in water and electrolyte balance. Due to individual differences in physical constitution and varying severity of heatstroke, the recovery time for headaches may differ, typically improving within about 3 days or around 7 days.

1. Around 3 days

Headaches following heatstroke may result from blood vessel dilation affecting cerebral blood flow. If symptoms are mild, promptly rehydrating, moving out of the high-temperature environment, and getting adequate rest can help lower body temperature, restore electrolyte balance, and reduce physical stress. Under these conditions, headaches may resolve within approximately 3 days.

2. Around 7 days

If heatstroke is more severe—such as when significant dehydration or high fever occurs—it may adversely affect bodily tissues and lead to intense headaches. Since overall bodily functions require time to recover, even with prompt removal from the hot environment, timely rehydration, and medical treatment, it may still take a longer period for headache symptoms to subside, often improving around 7 days later.

Persistent headaches after heatstroke should be evaluated at a hospital. Under a doctor’s guidance, medications such as Shidi Shui (Ten-Drop Water) or Huoxiang Zhengqi Granules may be taken orally to relieve fever, counteract summer heat, and resolve exterior symptoms and dampness, thereby alleviating discomfort. Additionally, adjust the environment by promptly lowering room temperature and ensuring good ventilation.
