Symptoms appear several hours after heatstroke
Heatstroke usually occurs within 1 to 6 hours. The onset time may vary slightly depending on the severity, as heatstroke can be classified into three types: precursor heatstroke, mild heatstroke, and severe heatstroke. Specific details are as follows:
1. Precursor Heatstroke
Precursor heatstroke is relatively mild and may develop after 5 to 6 hours. Symptoms may include thirst and fatigue. These symptoms can be relieved by taking Huoxiang Zhengqi Water orally under a doctor's guidance.
2. Mild Heatstroke
Mild heatstroke typically manifests within 3 to 4 hours, with symptoms such as body fever and limb weakness. Immediate measures should include moving to a cooler environment, increasing fluid intake, and resting. Symptoms usually subside after a period of sleep.
3. Severe Heatstroke
Severe heatstroke generally occurs within 1 to 2 hours, often due to prolonged physical activity in high temperatures leading to significant fluid loss. Immediate medical treatment at a nearby hospital is required.
When experiencing heatstroke, applying essential balm (e.g., Fengyoujing) to the forehead and temples may help alleviate symptoms. In severe cases, immediate medical attention at a hospital is necessary.
