Does drinking tea benefit cardiovascular health?
Drinking tea generally has certain benefits for cardiovascular health.
Tea contains abundant polyphenols, vitamins, and flavonoids. Drinking an appropriate amount of tea can improve vascular physiological function, prevent platelet aggregation, and inhibit the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein, thereby helping to prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and reduce the risk of myocardial infarction.
Since tea contains a large amount of caffeine, which may stimulate the cerebral cortex, patients with cardiovascular diseases should drink tea lightly and avoid strong tea. Also, tea should not be consumed too late in the day, especially before bedtime. Cardiovascular patients with a "liang xing" (cool) constitution are not advised to drink green tea.
While drinking tea can provide some beneficial effects, it cannot treat cardiovascular diseases. Patients with such conditions must seek medical treatment under a doctor's guidance. In daily life, patients should maintain emotional stability and avoid excessive excitement. Engaging in moderate physical activities, such as walking or cycling, can promote blood circulation and support cardiovascular health.
