Are vitamin B and vitamin B complex the same?
Vitamin B and compound vitamin B are generally not the same.
Vitamin B, also known as vitamin B complex, refers collectively to the group of B vitamins and belongs to water-soluble vitamins. It includes vitamin B1, vitamin B2, folic acid, vitamin B6, among others, which are essential nutrients required by human tissues. Most of these vitamins are obtained through diet and play a role in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats in the body.
Compound vitamin B is a medication containing ingredients such as vitamin B6, vitamin B1, nicotinamide, and calcium pantothenate. Clinically, it is commonly used to treat conditions caused by deficiencies in B-complex vitamins, including pellagra, beriberi, loss of appetite, and malnutrition. Possible side effects after taking this medication may include decreased appetite, irritability, and skin flushing.
