Introduction
Shoulder aches and pains can be relieved by choosing the appropriate method based on different underlying causes, such as excessive exercise, trauma, periarthritis, arthritis, cervical spondylosis, etc. In daily life, it's important to keep the shoulder area warm and avoid exposure to cold, which may worsen symptoms. If symptoms persist or are severe, it is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital for relevant examinations and treatment under a doctor's guidance.

Shoulder soreness can be relieved by choosing appropriate methods according to different causes. Common causes include excessive exercise, trauma, periarthritis (frozen shoulder), arthritis, and cervical spondylosis.

1. Excessive Exercise

Overexertion may cause excessive tension in the muscles surrounding the shoulder, as well as wear and injury to the shoulder joint, resulting in shoulder soreness, possibly accompanied by fatigue, swelling, and other symptoms. Usually, no specific treatment is required—adequate rest and avoiding overuse are sufficient.

2. Trauma

External impact may injure the soft tissues of the shoulder joint, causing soreness, along with possible bruising, swelling, or numbness. Applying local heat therapy can promote blood circulation and help relieve symptoms.

3. Periarthritis (Frozen Shoulder)

Periarthritis is a shoulder condition in which inflammation may lead to swelling of the shoulder bursa, compressing nerves and causing soreness, numbness, and restricted movement. Acupuncture or massage, under medical guidance, can improve blood flow and alleviate discomfort. For severe cases, patients may seek medical care where doctors can perform shoulder joint release procedures to restore normal joint function.

4. Arthritis

Articular cartilage is a smooth tissue covering joint surfaces that reduces friction and facilitates smooth joint movement. When inflamed or damaged, increased friction may occur, leading to discomfort such as soreness, weakness, and stiffness. It is recommended to use anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications under a doctor’s supervision to relieve symptoms and support recovery. Commonly used drugs include dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection, prednisolone acetate injection, and methylprednisolone sodium succinate for injection.

5. Cervical Spondylosis

Cervical spondylosis may cause abnormal forward or backward curvature of the cervical spine, disrupting the balance and function of shoulder muscles, resulting in shoulder soreness, possibly accompanied by dizziness, weakness, and numbness. Under medical advice, medications such as glucosamine sulfate capsules, chondroitin sulfate tablets, or glucosamine indomethacin enteric-coated tablets may be used to protect and repair cartilage, promoting symptom improvement.

In daily life, it's important to keep the shoulder area warm and avoid cold exposure, which could worsen symptoms. If symptoms persist or become severe, it is advisable to visit a hospital for proper evaluation and treatment under medical supervision.
