Introduction
Diarrhea in summer is generally not due to heatstroke. Heatstroke refers to a series of symptoms caused by the body's failure to properly regulate temperature in hot and humid environments. While heatstroke can manifest as abdominal discomfort and diarrhea, diarrhea itself does not necessarily indicate heatstroke. In summer, people often develop acute gastroenteritis from consuming contaminated food, leading to diarrhea accompanied by symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Heatstroke refers to a series of symptoms caused by dysfunction of the body's temperature regulation mechanism when exposed to high temperature and humidity environments. Although heatstroke may present with abdominal discomfort and diarrhea, diarrhea itself does not necessarily indicate heatstroke. In summer, people often develop acute gastroenteritis from consuming contaminated food, leading to diarrhea accompanied by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and other symptoms—these are signs of acute gastroenteritis rather than heatstroke. Heatstroke typically manifests as fatigue, dizziness, chest tightness, and palpitations.

Treatment for heatstroke includes immediately stopping physical activity and resting in a cool place. It’s important to drink plenty of fluids or beverages containing electrolytes, such as sports drinks or coconut water. Applying cold water or ice packs to the head, neck, armpits, and other areas, or using a fan to cool down, can also help. In daily life, avoid prolonged physical activity in hot and humid conditions. Wear breathable, lightweight clothing and protect yourself from direct sun exposure. Ensure adequate rest and avoid overexertion.

If symptoms are severe—such as high fever or loss of consciousness—seek medical attention promptly.
