Introduction
If liver function is impaired due to excessive fatigue or alcohol consumption causing mild acute liver damage, the condition is usually not severe and can spontaneously recover after improving lifestyle habits. However, if liver damage is caused by factors such as hepatitis B or hepatitis C viruses, it may gradually lead to liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and other diseases, and in severe cases, may progress to liver malignancies; therefore, it cannot recover on its own.

In general, whether liver function can recover on its own after damage depends on the severity of the impairment. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Possible

If liver damage is mild and acute, caused by factors such as excessive physical exertion or alcohol consumption, it is usually not severe. Because the liver has a strong regenerative capacity, it can often recover spontaneously after lifestyle improvements.

2. Not possible

If liver function is impaired due to causes such as hepatitis B or hepatitis C virus infection, without timely treatment, the condition may progressively develop into liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and in severe cases, even liver malignancies. Therefore, spontaneous recovery is unlikely.

Patients with impaired liver function are advised to seek prompt medical attention, obtain an accurate diagnosis at a hospital, and receive targeted treatment accordingly.
